Pre-salted Miller Amish chicken, fresh thyme with butternut squash going into the oven for friends coming over later. Truly wish my ChefTalk cooking buddies could join.

I certainly wish the same! That looks fantastic. I love the color of your butternut squash. Thyme goes with chicken like basil with tomatoes. Sometimes I add some fresh thyme after roasting the chicken, with some butter and salt.. delicious. If you can please post an "after" picture too!

Every month one of us should volunteer to host dinner for the few hundred most active participants on Cheftalk.  No problem, right?

    Nicko,

Simple and classy all rolled into one. Shame I'm a day late and a.............Looks like there might be a change to the menu this week or next.

How did the finished product turn out? I'd ask to see the picture but that would be "cruel and unusual punishment". /img/vbsmilies/smilies/thumb.gif

I already had about 50 people in my garden for a neighbourhood BBQ. If we need more space, I can always put up some beer tables in the adjacent meadow:

So, grab some tickets to Bavaria and I roast a pig for y'all... /img/vbsmilies/smilies/smile.gif

    Same here!
How does lunch on a sand bank sound, with elephants watching you and the cry of the fish eagle in the background (just trying to make everyone jealous)

And Gene, if I get back to Holland some time I might just take you up on your iffer :)

I moved away from Munich two years ago, used to live in Schwabing, to the place shown above. But I am still pretty close - half way between Nürnberg and Regensburg, perhaps a two hour drive from Munich. So if you visit the Oktoberfest, you could as well stop here! You probably pass my place on the Autobahn anyway, when driving south towards Munich, that should just be a 30 minute detour. Just drop me a message when you are going - I'd be happy to provide some Bavarian cooking, fine local beers and a place to crash for the night!
