Wish me luck! Today a business opportunity presented itself and just fell in my lap. It would be running a small golf course cafe. I'd have to bid on it and go under contract with the city. It's at a city owned course that has been running their own food service operations themselves and decided to start letting "independents" present bids on it for the first time, starting today. I went down there to check it out and it looks like it might be worthwhile. I'm going to pursue the bid and it will be due in a week. I've been looking into getting in this business for the past few years and was planning on a bid for another golf course later this year in december, but this one just popped up out of the blue. If it's meant to be, then I'll need all the good juju sent my way! Some bad things about it... Their current menu is stuff like ... Hot Dog $3 Hamburger $4 Bacon Cheeseburger $5 etc... Nothing on their current menu is over $5 and most stuff is between $3 and $4 it looks like. That means I'll have to raise the prices a bit because I would go a little more upscale. I'm hoping that won't piss too many people off! I'd still have hotdogs and hamburgers but I won't sell crap for a living!!! You know what I mean. Their current equipment sucks ass. They have a little, (what looks like a) 16 x 24" flat top and a tiny 2 basket electric fryer (and a microwave) as their primary cooking equipment. Even my food truck is better equipped than this! One single door lowboy and a single door reach-in fridge and a single door reach-in freezer. That's way less refrigeration than I'm used to! No Banquet Room!!!!!!!!! Beer on draught would be nice. Only canned it looks like. I'd have to give a percentage of my gross to the city. I was advised that anything less than 10% won't be enough for my bid. I'm too big of a cheapskate to offer more than that! So, again, need good jujus sent my way if it's meant to be!!!
