I would not fret too much over this.  farmers are already seeing that RoundUp ready is no longer working; the weeds have adapted.  the problem will cure itself -

You do realize that the article is based on a 'blog' post that was made 3 years ago... that can now not be found?

However old the origination of this information may be ... the outcome is once again and will always continue to be the same. "Take all the time you want. Use however much effort you have. You can even die for whatever you believe in. You will never beat "BIG MONEY".

"Big Money" thinks for what is now. "Big Money" has no concern for what will happen tomorrow. The politicians that are bought are all the same, "Where will the $$$ come from to keep me elected?". On the other side ... the greatest percentage of our population is so much more concerned with how they will put today's meals on the table that they, unfortunately, are uneducated about the information of GMOs.

Maybe in the USA... doesn't seem to have in Europe, although I admit Canada still has a way to come still.

At least our meat has been protected for quite some time.

So I was curious as to why this was posted by the site WhyDontYouTryThis almost 3yrs after the alleged 'email'

Took a bit of digging but I found the blog post in the archives of Whole Foods Market.

There are 2 of them - one on 21 Jan 2011 which is suppossedly quoted in the article (actually many quasi-news action groups used the same reference)  Mistaking a blog post for an email - not a big deal, it happens.

    Here is the post http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/blo...tion-needed-support-organics-and-non-ge-crops

please read it for yourself, it is hardly like what is on WDYTT

Here is a clarification and follow up on 28 Jan 2011

    http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/blog/whole-story/usda-disappoints-no-regulations-ge-alfalfa

Seems like after the USDA changed the requirements WFM and subsidiaries began a process to ensure all items sold in their stores are labeled as containing GMO's.

They also give a ton of background on the fight, and here is the kicker....

color and underline added by me

No where will you find anything about "the organic elite has become more and more isolated from the concerns and passions of organic consumers and locavores."

Seems like a pretty well reasoned response to shitty news from the USDA.

Please - these advocacy groups are often well meaning but will twist almost anything in order to spin the doom-n-gloom.

I honestly could care less about WFM - i've never been in one and there isn't one within 500 miles to the best of my knowledge.

What I do care about is mis-leading campaigns based on fiction and fear, not science and truth.

Unfortunately there are all too many of them.   Look into the Canadian Fur Seal hunt for the biggest bunch of BS ever spouted.

That's what the journalist said in the article I quoted. And I agree with him. You have your interpretation of the events that unfolded, and I have mine. I don't agree with your vision of the facts. Just because something "isn't on the table" doesn't mean you can't lobby, negotiate or make business decisions. WFM, Stonyfield & Organic Valley made the conscious decision to go in bed with Monsanto and to give up the fight against GMO. Nobody forced them to give up that fight. It was their own business decision.

Oh don't worry ,it's also true in Europe - especially since the new European regulations. Tomorrow, Emmanuel Giboulot will go to court for refusing to use chemical products on his organic vineyards. That chemical product is supposed to kill a parasite, but it also kills bees. And Emmanuel Giboulot has shown that there are natural alternatives to the chemical, which are equally strong at avoiding the parasite, but don't kill bee. For this, he is risking serious fine and prison time. http://ipsn.eu/petition/viticulteur.php/emvid - this is just one of the many incidents which keep happening since bigger bodies make decisions that tend to benefit the large food corporations at the expense of the smaller farmers.
