whipped cream with italian merengue added

    is whipped cream with Italian meringue  added a good idea as frosting for a cake?

    It's a great idea - i do it all the time.  The meringue stabilizes the cream to some extent and it doesn't tend to run.  Also it freezes very well, so you can freeze the frosted cake and then take it out and eat it when it's defrosted.  In fact, if you just make the italian meringue and whipped cream, put it in a bowl in the freezer, you have one of the nicest ice creams without the need of an ice cream maker, it never makes crystals, stays soft all the time even at zero degrees F.

    have you tried do the same with melted chocolate?

    italian meringue with melted chocolate in it and when it's cool, whipped cream folded in.  Again, perfect ice cream without an ice cream maker, just put in freezer, it stays soft and silky, no ice.  And can be used as a lighter ganache.
