    I guess I'll start.

Chili and Syrah. The pepper and spice in the chili really worked well with the Syrah. In fact, Syrah pairs nicely with spices, especially black pepper.

I was a lot younger when I tried this.

A rarely viewed white wine that I love is Viognier. It is like a bouquet of flowers and goes well with Asian cuisine that encompasses fruit.

This is also one of my favorites that I don't feel gets as much love as it deserves. But then again, I really love most of the "Rhone" wines, whether they be red or white.

Indeed, I love Viognier. Its my second favorite white wine closely behind Gruner Veltliner. I find that both of these wines have an exceptional ability to pair beautifully with seafood, especially when prepared with aromatic herbs.

@chefross I agree 100% - I think Vionier goes very well with Asian food, too.

there's a local winery notorious for their crazy food + wine pairings, and one of my favorites was with various doritos flavors:

lambrusco with the spicy, sauv blanc with the traditional, and a chardonnay with the cool ranch

what was amazing is how they all worked wonderfully

Vermentino's bitter-sweet goes wonderful with veal, at least in making the pan sauce.

I never thought of viognier as a rarely viewed item, it certainly isn't foreign to the tongues of those who know syrah as it is very often in the blend whether or not indicated on the label. Muskadet, now pretty sure that sees little press, though a wonderful spicy white.
