Hi y'all, Here is my take on healthy cooking. You don't have to go Veg or eat Tofu. All "eating healthy" means is moderation. Use fats in moderation. Use salt in moderation. And when you plate your meals eat them in moderation. Smaller portions frequently is the key. But that is not ALL there is to "eating healthy". If you eat and dont move you are defeating the purpose of eating healthy. You need to move to burn any calories. Exercise is essential. It doesnt have to be heading to the gym and the dreaded stairmaster. I suggest jumping rope with your kids. Trust me youll like this way of exercising better. Do leg raises with your baby on your shins. He/she's about 20 pounds right? Go ahead you weightlifter you! Go shopping. Yes you heard me. That is the only time when you are exercising and dont even know it. How many squats do you do to lift those bags? How many miles of mall do you walk in those few hours? How many stairs do you climb to get that perfect outfit? Take the kids to Six Flags and GO on the rides more instead of eating all those corndogs. Dont have your own kids? Borrow your sister's. Play all those great games you used to play with your kids. There is an alternative to TV you know. Mom really can be lots of fun. Go for romantic walks with your hubby. Exercise means actually going outside sometimes. To all of you who think butter is not a good thing. Too much milk is bad for you. Too much sex is bad for you. Too much of everything is bad for you but that doesnt mean you have to cut it out completely (unless your doc suggests you do). Just limit your intake. Make sure you have a serving of veggies, starch and protien on your plate, drink plenty of water and exercise. If you like chips make your own buy toasting triangles of pita bread in your oven with a little olive oil and a small sprinkle of salt. EAT FRUIT! So, any nutritionists wanna take a crack at my statements. Critiques accepted.
