    Today so far

    Yesterday we played with pouring and pulling sugar , all good , no injuries

    Today I left 4 students unsupervised for ten minutes, I came back to find student number one pulling sugar plus skin off his finger , student  two had the wooden spoon stuck to his tongue, student  three has taken a pot of burnt fondant to the classroom and had just started to pour it into plastic ice moulds that have just started to melt , the fondant is so burnt/hot it’s starting to fill up the room with smoke , student  one and two are now in tears , I’ve taken them to the wash up area to soak finger and tongues in running water , the smoke alarms are now going off in the class room and the phone is ringing , student  three has now just realized that melted plastic is also hot to touch and he to is in the sink , mean while waiting for the fire brigade to turn up to turn the alarm off. student four is now directing traffic in the car park so the fire tuck can get through, when student three found out that plastic melts he dropped the pot on the carpet, now the carpet is smoking, the fire bridge have turned up only to find student one, two and three are having a wet T shirt competition in the wash up area, woowhoo firemen ,this incident required two hours of paper work, emails and phone calls , welcome to my world ,

    problem : i went home and had four beers , my GF said i drink to much , what do you think ??????

    sounds like a bunch of students had no idea of how hot sugar can get...

    ... bad teacher - next time don't leave them alone while you go for beers.

    - your beers should wait while you finish supervising.

    i will add that i work in a drug rehab teaching client how to cook for themselves and the community of 100 plus , i get spat at , and slapped and people OD , so sometimes i am distracted

    Jevan your day sounded very eventful, I take my hat off to you. You must have incredible patience working with these guys. I hope your beer was good and your girlfriend gives you a break. keep up the good work dude.

    Jevan, you must have a very equitable temperament.  I don't think just four beers would have even begun to restore me after a day like that!

    Yeah that's definitely a four beer + three shots of Jameson kinda' night.
    Um not to kick you while you're down but why were you trying to teach addicts how to pull sugar for a home cooking course? I can't see them ever applying that one for anything other than weed candies.

    Every now and again i get residents / student that are keen to learn more about cooking , we do little projects that gets them thinking out side the square and it promotes team work and social skills  , We are in the middle of making a model tall ship out of chocolate 1.5 m x 1m . One of the residents said why don't we make the sales out of pulled sugar .

    So i did a class on pulled sugar .

    as i said good question , i regret the decision to show them pulled sugar put it was a learning experience all round , it went better than the day someone wanted to learn how to prepare and cook pigeon , i shit you not , they went and trapped one and cooked it
