UK qualification question...

    I've recently started a role as a KP to get some experience of kitchen life after ditching the finance industry and office life, I'm looking to do my first qualification to help me jump from the KP role to a cook role and was hoping someone could offer some advice.

    I'm not sure how to gauge the equivalence of a couple of quals I've been looking at, namely the Level 2 Award in Culinary Skills accredited by the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality or the City & Guilds Certificate in Food Preparation. Are they comparatively similar?

    It may also be worth noting I'll be looking to leave the UK (most likely Canada bound) early 2015.
