We made pizza the other day and I was looking around the fridge for some ricotta cheese for a topping.  Couldn't find any so I used cream cheese instead.  Specifically it was tomato sauce, cream cheese, canadian bacon, and mozzarella.  Awesome!!!

Makes sense because if you used Marscapone, which is very similar to cream cheese, it would work too.

    Not a bad idea!!

Sounds yummy.  I had a pizza in a restaurant in Quebec once that had a creamy garlicy white sauce (tasted a bit like jar ceasar dressing, but much richer and more creamy) in place of the tomato sauce.  I've wondered of what it was made, and your cream cheese idea may provide the answer.  =)

Methinks tommoro's lunch may be experimental pizza /img/vbsmilies/smilies/licklips.gif

My brother makes a pizza with salmon, cream cheese and capers. Another turn but delicious.

Eggplant and ricotta are very good together on a pizza.

     I like Bacon Cheeseburger Supreme
Delicious crispy bacon and beef on a midly sweet sauce. Also topped with a triple layer of cheddar and mozarrela cheese.

In Italy I've seen them put all kinds of things on pizza.  Sliced egg, spaghetti, peas, you name it they used it as a topping.  I very much would like to make a plain cheese pizza and then top it with arugula, figs and prosciutto after it comes out of the oven.  I've heard from many that this is the ultimate.

Yes please try the cream cheese topping.  It's suberb.

        Sounds really good Koukouvagia :)

It's funny that many Americans only stick to the "usual suspects" for pizza toppings.

My wife and I really like zucchini, roasted garlic and squashed plum tomatoes.

KCZ, that Eggplant and ricotta sounds delicious too!

lol, gonefishin, I guess in Canada we lean more towards 'experimental' pizza toppings, at least in the military non-com mess halls.  Without fail, whatever had been served the night before for supper appeared on a pizza for lunch the next day.  Yep, mac & cheese pizza, boiled chicken & mashed with diced veggie pizza, pork chop & white rice pizza...  it was impressive; no dinner item ever escaped its fate as a pizza topping.  Now, whether or not anyone ate it... well, we were military, and Canadian. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/wink.gif

I admit that I can't tolerate bbq chicken flavored pizza.  I don't know why, chicken is not a pizza topping for me.

    Pork Pork Pork!!!

Ah, Koukouvagia, more chicken for me!  There is a place called Pizza Trokadero that makes a lovely chicken, spinach & feta pizza.  When our poker games ran into the wee hours we would invariably place an order.  /img/vbsmilies/smilies/licklips.gif

In a protest over Hawaiian style ham and pineapple pizza, as well as BBQ chicken and other things we didn't like, one of my friends and I once made T-shirts that said

    "Support fish-free, fruit-free, fowl-free pizza"  /img/vbsmilies/smilies/bounce.gif

One of my favorites is a gorgonzola/roasted garlic thick sauce spread on thin formed pizza dough and then topped with roasted marinated plum tomatoes, cooked in our little high temp pizza oven for about 2 minutes until blistered and charred  mmmmmm delicious. Hubby only wants plain margarita or with sweet italian sausage. When I went to teach a friend how to make pizza a few of his neighbors came over too and when I pulled out the gorgonzola ingredients they all held their noses and said no thanks............after the first adventurous soul tried it they were all hooked.

It sounds delicious.  I try to be experimental as much as I can.  Trying something new is a leap over your own ego.  Just clear your mind, give it a try, and if you don't like it don't eat it.  What have you got to lose?

Love to keep it simple. =)

Really good thin base, passata, garlic, S+P, Basil, Oregano, drizzle of oil.

People look at me like I just fell out of a tree when I tell them I don't use cheese - but it's good!

Fish free?  But cheese and anchovy, topped with tomato slices after baking is one of my favorites!

lol  Fish free... I might wear the T-shirt if only to protest the mess-hall fish n' chips pizza.  Eww, it was. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/tongue.gif   Soggy chunks of breaded cod and greasy fries smothered in plastic mozzarella.

Meh, I take it back.  I like chicken, and pineapple, and tomatoes on my 'zza too much to wear the shirt....
