toasting , salted pecans

Ok, I am making pecan buttercrunch from the book "Chocolates and Confections. The recipe calls for pecans toasted, chopped and salted. Does anyone know the proper procedure? Do I toast them plain in the oven then sprinkle with salt, or coat them with butter and salt then roast them. Any ideas? Thanks
