    FYI,

We bought an Oster SS, it was not expensive. After a month one toaster side went out. They did replace it but the same exact thing happened yesterday. Going in a different direction. Would like to know what you find.

I own one of those.  Bought it 12 years ago for $100 (half price at the time).  It has held up just fine.  I've never had to replace an element.  Slots could be wider for bagels and thick cut breads.  Toasts OK.  Decidedly not worth $400 though.  I would look for other options for that kind of money.
