This old woman has hidden the kitchen sheers from me because I was turning bacon over in a frying pan with the tips.  She thinks they'll get ruined, which I don't think is possible.  Is it possible to ruin them, or is she just being irrational?  Sorry for the odd topic.

More likely the pan will get ruined if you scratch the surface, especially if it's nonstick. Or it's likely that the bacon will tear if you use scissors.

I don't think the scissors will get ruined. But I wouldn't use them. Tongs are better.

I'd be more concerned that there's a random old woman hiding in your kitchen lol. Does she work there because that sounds totally random.

Write on the blackboard 100 times:

A scissor is not a tong. A scissor is not a spatula. A scissor is not a chopstick.

I think the core issue here is that he's willing to pull in third parties on an argument over cooking bacon. There is so much wrong with even making this an issue in the relationship whether personal or professional.

It's not worth arguing, fighting, or discussing. Don't do it and move on.

    dear Ragin'Sarah -

The truck driver said his engine made the meat sweet and delectable.

I asked how he achieved such succulent moistness, and he said,

"I use Oil of Olay. Nobody told me not to."

"But what about basting every 2 miles?" I asked.

"You don't need no stinkin' bastin' !!!!" he shrieked.

"Oil of Olay does it all, partner. Stop yer darn complainin'. "

I always thought Jessie was a bit irrational.

Just as a sign of my support, I too will now use kitchen scissors in new and unconventional ways.  I think that is actually a good use for them, seeing as though I use them only once a month.

They should be fine.  Mine are tanks and virtually indestructible.  The pan may have issues though.

I think the only wrong way to cook bacon is without pants on, but that is just me.

LOL.  Cook bacon with scissors and pants.

Or do 3 shots of whiskey, and 2 shots of NyQuil.  By tomorrow morning, it never happened.

Hey, you clicked a link titled " This is going to sound dumb, but…"

    Operative word : dumb

I, however, have been thoroughly entertained.

    For 3 minutes.

    Its the kid in me.

    My my.

If the tips of the scissors get too hot, they can lose their edge and temper. But such is unlikely to happen turning bacon.

I myself would be annoyed by someone using my kitchen scissors as tongs. If someone tried to use my poultry shears in such a manner, I would be REALLY annoyed.

Lmfao, she's my grandma.  I found the sheers, but she re-hid them.  The thing is, she doesn't have tongs, so I'm left with using the scissors and a butterknife to turn the bacon. I use the sheers because I usually have them on-hand when I'm cooking and don't want to pull out another utensil just for that.  I mean, now I'm without scissors because of that lil' short cut.
A scissor is not a tong.  A scissor is not a tong.  A scissor is not a tong.  A scissor is not a tong.  This'll take some time.
Precisely why the thread title refers to the subject as dumb. But oh, if only you knew.  The subtext of "old woman" clearly failed to translate, here.  "Stubborn old woman" would have been a better description.  Imagine my dilemma.  Reason is not a tool in her drawers, anyway.
    I think I understand.

    I think.
Now, that's more like it.  We'll prove to the world that they, too, can use kitchen sheers to turn bacon, and it will be the most delicious bacon man has ever consumed.

The most this thread is doing for me is reducing my insanity over this issue to a calm annoyance.  I'm glad you s'port my cause.
All hope is lost.  Your future is doomed. This is a message from the future.
Why would it annoy you?  I totally get, "my tools, my rules," but what in your mind makes you go crazy if someone used them the way I am, even though it would take a lot to do damage?  Maybe I can get through my grandma's cobwebs via third party.

This is just a simple idea ... a suggestion. Maybe, just maybe ... there's no guarantee or anything. You should be able to find one of these easily enough. They're relatively common. All different shapes and sizes. Ordinary or ornate. They all work pretty much the same way mostly ... I'm not sayin' ... I'm just sayin' ...

I have the solution. Free your scissors and hide your grandma.

    Buy Tongs

If you catch her trying to use them instead of the scissors, hide the tongs.

When you hide the tongs that's where the scissors will be found.

It concerns me that it took you three minutes to read the thread...

All that aside, turning bacon with sissors? Well...at least they get greased so there shouldn't be any squeaking!
