Hello all! My name is Alexis. Cumin is my favorite spice.

That's all you need to know but I can elaborate..

I break every food processor I touch.

I don't like sauces all that much and prefer letting my food speak for itself.

I have discovered recently how heavenly fresh pineapple tastes. (Aloha living)

The more veggies the better (unless it's spinach, that guy goes bad way too fast and I usually waste half of what I buy..carrots on the other hand...)

I love savory dishes and soups and tend to stay away from grains.

I have been cooking my whole life and it is my singular passion.

I am often fickle with my goals but put me in a kitchen and I am at peace.

I want to get out of my windowless, predictable, steady paying office job and make cooking a career.

I figure the best place to start is getting to know others who want the same thing.

I hope together we can make our dreams a reality...or at the very least share our opinions on the best way to cook eggs.

Welcome Akimhof! You've come to the right place to get to know others who are passionate about food and cooking. As for eggs, use the search tool and the threads about cooking them will pop up aplenty! In fact, one of our monthly Cooking Challenges- the one for August 2014- concerned eggs and the many ways to use them. The Cooking Challenges are in the Food and Cooking general forum; have a look there.

The forums are roughly divided into professional and general categories. We home cooks can read in all forums, but posting in the professional forums is reserved only for those who work in the industry. We do our posting in the general forums where everyone posts, so your questions will be addressed there.

Besides the forums, don't miss the cooking articles, cookbook and equipment reviews, photo galleries and other great features here. You can't be Chef Talk for the opportunities in terms of connecting with professionals in all areas of the culinary world and with people in all parts of the world.

Have fun with your explorations. Who knows? You may even develop a fondness for working with spinach.

    Regards,
    Mezzaluna

Welcome, glad you joined. There are many people like you here who wanted to career change. I did the opposite I left the kitchen for the windowless job. It was a tough switch but the time with family and friends is more precious to me than the time in the kitchen. I find now I cook more for the people I love than for people I often only met once. Still I think you should explore it and I always encourage people looking to do what you want to do to work in the business for at least a year. It really does impact your family (and love) life.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Hi
    Welcome!

Saute your spinach once it starts to turn. You can use it up really fast this way.

Work at what you love and you'll find you have no work at all? Something like that
