steps of getting Red Seal

    Hello everyone.

    I am new to this site. Have interest in cooking and have 3 years of cooking experience.

    Can somebody tell me please what are the steps toward obtaining the read seal certification? Should i register first somewhere ? I already found chef who is readu to teach me on this but wants to find out what are the first steps ?

    Help me please with this

    I don't know what Province you are in.  Best thing to do is the check out your provincial ITA website (Industry Training Authority) and follow the links from there.

    In NB the aprenticeship coordinators are at the community college, they have the necessary paper work.

    Then you just need to do 5400 hrs and complete three blocks of training.

    You can challenge the first two blocks if your 3 yrs exp are uner a red seal and they are willing to sign off your hrs. Its basically up to the govt coordinators how many hrs they are starting you with even if the Chefs sign off.

    I have no idea if this is similar in other provinces. I just accepted my first apprentice about a month ago, they gave her a few thousand hrs starting off, mostly because if a College level course. I strongly advise going to the 6 week training instead of challenging blocks.
