Great value to be had with south african wines.My favorite wines come from the cape of good hope. paarl and Stellenbosh produce some really nice wines.chenin blanc is the most planted grape.(crouchon) or cape reisling is a winner as is cinsaut...Africas version of "hermitage"...
I have to put my thinking cap on to try to remember more about the wines.
I will post more on cape wines when my head clears up... :)

KWV - Cape Wine Cooperatives,
they have and increble set-up in Paarl.
Keep an eye open for their Catherdral Range,
their Roberts Creek is a blend but valu-4- money, C$9 in Ottawa.

Pinotage is the unique Cape wine,
red, and heavy bodied, great with Winter foods.

btw KWV also have an interesting range of brandies, including their 20 year and XO

International Pinotage Tasting
where A New Zealnd Pinotage was rated # 1.

and "The Cape's Finest Wiones - 'New start for Sticky End" on sweets muscadel wines
- almost ice wein without the Marketing hype.
