Today I bought a fast frozen vacuum packed package of "Nordicseafood" cold smoked salmon and I was very unpleasantly surprised to see that on the back of the package it says "Must be cooked before consumption". I've always eaten smoked salmon without cooking and I've never seen a package of smoked salmon that says it should be cooked before consumption no matter the manufacturer. So, my question is why it must be cooked, and what do you people think, should I cook it before eating it? I really love smoked salmon and I could make some pasta with it but I don't want to cook it if I don't have to. P.S. one more thing that seems strange on the label is it says when thawed it should be consumed within 24 hours even if it's not opened.. I would expect it would last unopened in the fridge for at least 2-3 weeks if not longer, not only 24 hours Thank you..
