Searing lamb the day before service?

I'd like to sear a lamb rack the day before service, then crust and roast to MR for pick up. What temp should I aim for on the sear?

Raw. Searing just to color the outside. Lamb racks are not very big so you'll hit MR if you aren't careful.
Thanks for your reply. So, 130 on the sear. I’m going into a 400 * oven with a bread crumb/herb crust. 4-5 minutes to MR? What do you think?

110 would be much better, as low as possible. A hot pan, sear the outside to color, remove from pan. I typically cook tender meats like whole filets to 125 internal temp then let it rest for ten minutes and it's MR. So with a small lamb rack, I'd aim for as low as possible initially.
If at all possible, try one out and see how it works.
