After so many years and being the MOST profitable restauurant in America just 2-3 years ago they will be shutting their doors for good on New Years Eve. Its a real shame, but if you want to own a piece of culinary history you can go to the public auction they will be having in January.

Obviously, they weren't the most "profitable" restaurant in the country as they filed bankrupcy, but for years they held the distinction of having the highest sales of any single restaurant. Say what you want about the food, good or bad, it was an icon.

I ate there a a couple of times, I was never wowed by the food but I agree with Pete. Tavern on the Green was an Icon, and it's always sad to see an icon disappear :(
