Renting a commercial/Licensed Kitchen

    Hi Guys!

    So I am trying to get a small business off of the ground in Cincinnati OH producing a prepared food product (not a cottage food) for sale at local farmer's markets. As per Ohio law, I can only produce this in a 'licensed' kitchen, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any kitchens for rent in this area? Or, even better, if anybody knows of 'off the beaten' path spaces that might be of use.

    After some research, I found a couple commercial spaces for rent, but they are quite far from me, somewhat expensive, and have very little time available. Also, I have heard of some people using schools or churches as substitutes for this licensed kitchen law. Does anyone have any experience with this latter option? How did the whole process go, and what was the process with the health department like?

    Check with your local non profits thatĀ prepare street people food.

    Most are usually running short funded and may jump at the $$ (if they have not already).

    Their kitchens have to be inspected and licensed and if the ones in your area are anything like the ones in mine are super clean.

    The available hours will prolly be inconvenient but like you posted it will be for start up.
