    Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart I have to report to the ChefTalk community that one of our long time moderators and friend @PeteMcCracken  has passed away. Peter suffered a heart attack last month and it was discovered that he had cancer. This is very sudden and I would encourage you to pray for his wife Wanda, son Matthew and three step-children.

For those of us who knew Pete he was just a great guy who worked tirelessly at helping keep the forums a great place to talk about food and cooking. Pete joined ChefTalk in 2008 and in that time has contributed 3,847 posts to the community. He initially started out as one of our spam canners but then became a full fledged moderator. If you would like to help remember a great man and member of our community please take time to post some kind thoughts in this thread or post a remembrance on his profile wall PeteMcCracken

His passing is a terrible shock to all of us. I always admired his great knowledge in everything culinary.

My prayers are with him and his family.

Although Pete and I never met, we shared ideas and different food hints and tricks over the years, he was an old timer and he new his onions. Plus he was just a good guy. Chef talk will miss his input . He was a true master and most likely will be cooking up there.  Condolences to his family

Peter and I had a few very nice chats thru PM. What a knowledgeable and kind person.

I am in shock and utterly speechless. :-(

Very sad news, indeed.  I never knew him except for his influence on this forum.  I hope he knew that his willingness to share his wisdom had a profound influence on many of us, and how much will will remember and respect his contributions.  He will be remembered with great fondness and gratitude.

We will be lesser without you, unless we have learned from you. Godspeed, Chef.
