Looking to purchase a refrigerated bakery display case.  I've been considering Leader & Federal. Both seem to have same one year warranty.  Any feedback on either of these brands?  Will be used for cakes, cheesecakes, tarts, eclairs etc.

Basically you don't want any gravity coil type systems.

Next, shelving. Tempered glass is ideal. Wire shelving belongs with flared Levis and 8 track stereos.

Doors: you'll be sliding these open a thousand times a day, are they robust? Easy to slide? You'll curse at doors that are hard to close. d.a. m.h.i.k.t.

Lighting: l.e.d. Is best, it doesn't put put any heat, which makes sense for a refrigerated cabinet.

Compressor. Usually the better models have a 5 yr warranty on the compresor, and one year for everytthing else

    Hope this helps

Construction: Stay away from any particle board or mdf construction, its just future landfill. Welded steel chasis is a good start

Leader and Federal both make deli cases that some people will tell you are bakery cases so buyer beware if you choose to buy used. Which I would not recommend but that's not what you asked :)

I bought a MVG Group Hydra-Kool model; curved glass front that opens out, sliding doors, glass shelves.  It's ok.  It's very very drying; the manufacturer actually told me to take everything out at the end of the day and put it back in the next day.  If I could figure out a way to add moisture to the air in there, I'd be really happy with it.  Looks-wise, it's exactly the look I was after.  I ended up getting the best price from Restaurant Depot (they're around the corner from us), but buying it from them was a nightmare.  They screwed up at every possible point in the sales process, were four weeks late with delivery and then refused to acknowledge their errors and it took them more than a week to issue a refund. I won't ever buy equipment from them again.
