Question about mom's Apple Crisp topping

What we called apple crisp when I was a kid is different from what most think of, so I'm wondering if there is another name for it.  The toping is made by combining 1C sugar, 1C flour, 1t baking powder and then a whole egg. Stir until the mixture is crumbly.  Then spread it over the fruit and pour some melted butter on top, then sprinkle liberally with cinnamon and sugar.  Bake.  Viola.  Anyone know what this type of topping is called?

There's a whole list of possibilities with overlap and crossover:

Crisp

Betty

Buckle

Crumble

Cobbler

Slump

Grunt

Pandowdy

Sonker

Bird's Nest

There are numerous lists that attempt to differentiate these, and they're generally consistent in their differentiation. But that doesn't constrain people from using names they're familiar with for a different but similar dish.

Hank, I agree with phatch...a long list with overlapping.  To me, your topping ingredients lean more toward a cobbler.

A side note...these are the topping ingredients I generally use for apple and a few other fruit crisps.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup plus 2 T. light brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
10 T. cold butter, diced
Optional: 1 cup pecans (or walnuts), lightly toasted and coarsely chopped

Reminiscent of a strusel topping but the addition of the egg makes it richer

Made this last night. I used a half hotel pan.

[h2]Apple Crisp[/h2]

6 medium tart apples, sliced thin
1 cup water
1/8 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon lemon rind
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter

Wash apples, pare very thin, core and slice. Place in a mixture of water and lemon until all apples are peeled and cut. Drain apples. Place in a shell or baking dish. Turn oven on to 375 °. Combine cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar. Sprinkle over apples. Blend remaining sugar with flour, salt, lemon rind, and butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Cook 375 ° until brown and bubbly.
