In the world’s wealthiest nation, 16 million children go to bed hungry every night. Change begins with you — I'm asking you to watch Hunger Hits Home, a documentary presented by the Food Network in partnership with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.

This is your chance to learn firsthand about the burgeoning child hunger crisis and how you can make a difference. Please consider joining me for this premiere in the comfort of your own home and maybe even invite your friends to come over and watch it with you.

Tomorrow is a big day in the fight against hunger. You don’t want to miss this, so I hope you’ll join me in front of your TV.

Please tune in tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST to watch Food Network’s powerful documentary, Hunger Hits Home: Our Children, Our Problem, Our Solution.

You see, here in America, we have enough food and programs that we know can end hunger. But it’s access to those programs that is the huge problem we’ve got to solve.

One of the easiest ways you can get involved is by watching Hunger Hits Home on the Food Network with me tomorrow night. And remember to tell your friends to do the same, or even invite them over to watch it with you.

As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers. Let’s make sure no kids go hungry on our watch.

    What:  Hunger Hits Home

Narrated by Jeff Bridges, national spokesman for Share Our Strength

Where: Your home with TV tuned to the Food Network

    Date:  Saturday, April 14, 2012

    Time:  8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST

We raise pigs and stop at the local food bank to get the leftover/throw away foods/vegetables/bread every week. I look at the food that's left over and ask why some of this food wasn't given out to people because it was still good. The answer is, they are real picky and don't like some of the foods we offer. My wife and I serve Birthday cake at my little girls school once a month for all the kids that have a birthday that month.  I would say almost all the kids in that school get breakfast & lunch on a Federal subsidized program. I used to run the large feedings at the Homeless mission, then one year the people in charge of the mission got canned for stealing money from the mission. I plan on watching the program, I bet it will make a difference. The thing people forget is, people eat 3 times a day, everyday, all year, not just when they bring attention to the problem....................ChefBillyB

Thanks to everyone/anyone who watched the program. It's on again tomorrow, and next weekend the 21st and 23rd. You can watch it anytime online at HUNGER HITS HOME

    Thank You.
