I'm having a bit of an issue with my broad line distributor over what is acceptable "freshness" of the perishables I receive. They claim industry standard is a "use or freeze by" date of 5 days from receipt, including the shipping day, is acceptable industry wide. I say b.s. What say you?

Lol sometimes I'm lucky if they don't send me rotten shit.

5 days seems a little low to me. It really depends what it is...obviously some things have a longer shelf life than others. What specifically is the issue about? Just general or something specific?

My question is in general brought on by a specific issue of receiving
Burgermeister fresh Angus patties with a use/freeze date 5 days out. Their claim to fame is a 21 day shelf life from the pack date. Of course, I'm thinking the majority of that time should be on my shelves, and not my distributors!
