Private chef rate for UES and Hamptons weekends

    I'm always wondering if my rates are competitive enough for UES clients seeking family meals or the Hamptons weekend Lunch/Dinner day rate.
    I don't have a steady gig with just client. Making $50 per hour is about what my rate translates into for city work. Anyone have a date rate experience for Hamptons and NYC? Thanks.

    Are you a private chef (one client, full time, salaried with benefits) or a personal chef (multiple clients on a periodic or as needed basis on a daily/hourly rate as a small business person)?

    Not familiar with the term UES, pardon my ignorance.

    Stands for Upper East Side. From your terms, multiple clients as a personal chef. No benefits, no taxes taken out. Thx.

    Ah, now I understand /img/vbsmilies/smilies/wink.gif

    I'm on the west coast, well, actually slightly inland, in the San Joaquin Valley (SJV using similar terminology)  halfway between Fresno and Bakersfield.

    Not that it is necessarily relevant, my minimum daily rate is $350 + food and other out of pocket expenses.

    That's interesting to know. My day rate for a ten plus hour day has been $550 in the city. The client pays for food and a parking garage for my car when i drive and really anything related which is standard. I keep getting a wide range of rates depending on who I talk to. Some charge $400, some $800. I've never used an agent before but im meeting with one tomorrow so I'm see what they have to say. SJV sounds like a better place to work. Thanks.
