preferred way to grill on the bone chicken?

    direct over low heat

    or

    indirect over higher heat

    I prefer indirect over higher heat for moist meat and crisp skin. I also like to slip herbed butter under the skin before grilling.  (Low heat yields rubbery skin.)

    Steve is right.  Indirect over high heat.
