Got a gallon bucket of oysters in Thursday from XX Foods.

    Drained weight was 1#, 12oz.

    $64.00

Hmmm.  Sir, would you care for a cup of oyster stew?  Only 39.75 today only.

Let this be a lesson to you. It's not that hard to shuck oysters. The northerns are at peak right now, in a couple of months the southern will be ready.

I don't WANT to shuck oysters.  I don't have TIME to shuck oysters.

Thus...I bought a gallon of SHUCKED oysters.

Any way you shake it, $64 for just over a pound and a half is a rip-off of gargantuan proportions.

What's the count? Restaurants'll charge $15-$20 a half dozen, i seem to remember them going about nine bucks a dozen wholesale. A pound of shucked oysters seems like a lot.
