Just getting into baking.  Having issues with my cakes not being done in the center.  Wanted to find out if maybe my racks are not at the corect height.  I have 5 options in my electric (Whirlpool)oven.  The bottom is almost on the unit and the top is within 2" of the upper heat unit.  Where do you guys set your racks?

I also have 5 options on my Maytag electric oven at home,

Cakes and pies would be baked on the second shelf up from the bottom. Cookies would go on the third, the middle shelf.

A turkey or a prime rib goes in the lowest shelf all the way on the bottom and a baked chicken, unstuffed on the second shelf, and if it is to be baked with stuffing on the inside of it I put it on the first shelf.

    Thanks Berndy.

Do you ever use the top two options?

I do use the top shelf sometimes, on rare occasions  if an item does not have the color I wanted. And if I bake cookies and have 2 sheet pans to bake at the same time  ,one pan goes on the shelf below the middle one and the other one goes on the shelf above the middle shelf, BUT then I rotate the 2 sheet pans half way trough the baking time.
