    Hello all!

New to cheftalk and currently a commis cook working at a fine dining restaurant for about a month in Singapore.

Would hope I get some motivation and advice needed to keep me going as I'm facing the reality part in working in this industry on how to improve on my basics.(knife skills, cutting, managing of service, etc)

Many times I felt like quitting due to the immense pressure, but I told myself I should stay and press on.

    Advice and motivation needed, thanks!

Oh I love Singapore. Why can't the UK be like your country with clean immaculate tidy streets and great buildings too. The night life is very good too and so is the food. Singapore has to be my favourite country to live.

You don't need to travel at all. You can teach yourself through cookery books, researching on the internet, watching TV chefs, learning from friends and relatives or go to a culinary school. Or even train with a TV chefs. The world is your oyster. I wish you the very best of luck.

I am sorry to hear your break down. My advice to you, is to be strong and persevere with your goals in life. Never stop following your dreams and you will succeed in the end if you are determined enough to want it bad enough. Don't let the hard times knock you down and never give up. I wish you the very best of luck in your bright future.
