Hi everyone!

I am new on the site and just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

I am an Architect in the verge of changing careers, soon will be starting Culinary School in Buenos Aires, Argentina (where I am from).

Will be moving from NYC and hopefully moving back after I am done with school to pursue my life's dream of becoming a professional cook.

Well, hello again and looking forward to getting to know a bit more of Cheftalk's world every day.

Welcome, Pablo! Thank you for introducing yourself. We have a good many members who are looking to enter a culinary career, or who changed jobs to do so. You'll find plenty of company here. I recommend you browse in the Culinary Schools/culinary students forum for discussions that may give you some ideas. Use the search tool there, too, to check out earlier discussions.

There's a lot to Chef Talk's world besides the discussion forums! Have a look at the cooking articles, reviews, photos, wikis and more. There's plenty here to keep you informed and entertained. We look forward to your participation in the community.

Hola! There are apparently, 3 culinary/cookery schools in Buenos Aires, listed in Shaw Guides: Argentina. The URL to BUE Trainers in Shaw Guides' website is incomplete, and the link was broken.

The Bue Trainers and Gato Dumas both seem to be vocational schools, but Gato Dumas seems to be less expensive. Which school have you chosen to attend? Perhaps there are other schools in Argentina, which are not listed with Shaw Guides?

My father's vocation was architecture, and cooking was an avocation. You be earning much less money in the cooking trade than in architecture.

You might like reading So You Wanna[sic] Be a Chef by Anthony Bourdain [Blog]. I have his book, Kitchen Confidential. I wish you much success in your career change, and relocation back to Buenos Aires. Buena Suerte. Good luck. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/chef.gif
