This showed up a couple of days ago, getting around to my first use.  Texas style hot links in the works:

It was a birthday present, webmaster payment deal from Karen's younger sister.  I think I am going to like it.

There are only two plates - the course is just under 1/4" the fine is just over 1/8"   I don't think any other sizes are avalable, would like a 3/8" and a bean plate for stuffing.  May have to make my own.

Too bad the grinder doesn't take standard #5 plates, I have lots of those!

    Teamfat-

Did you get the sausage-stuffing nozzle with that?

@teamfat, there seems to be a misconception concerning the "bean" or "kidney" plate.  Read what is stated at AlliedKenco's website concerning its use.  Here.

It should have come with sausage tubes and a spacer so he shouldn't need the bean plate.

    Yep.

It came with a little plastic deal that holds the end of the auger in place, like a bean or kidney plate. My wife came home from some errands while I was working on putting the hot links in the casings and asked "How many pounds of garlic did you use for this batch?"  There was a certain aroma in the house.

    VERY impressive...

If your wife walks in and says     "How many pounds of garlic did you use for this batch?"

You must be on the right track!

On the amount of garlic, not about bugging your wife. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/smile.gif

For aftermarket bigger-holed plates than KitchenAid provides (and kidney plate and sharper knife) check this out (bottom of page 2):

I bought a set of the larger plates and they are really nice.  Soon I'll be trying their "improved" knife.  I bought via ebay but buying direct seems a good option too.  Twice I have had great service and really fast shipping from these folks.

If I hadn't been gifted with this setup. I would have gotten a LEM Products Big Bite grinder, most likely.

I got this one and am quite happy. Have made about #50 lbs of sausage and ground up 60+lbs of chuck a couple weeks ago. Ate it up as fast as I could feed it into the mouth without blinking an eye.
