New to the forum,from the boston area

    Hi there,  I'm from the Boston area. I've been in the food industry since i was about 15 and I am 22 now. Mostly small family owned places but also a assisted living center and a college.

    For some reason I want to keep going and I'm getting my first job on the line in a high volume setting. I made this account months ago but just remembered it! I've lurked around here for a bit so I decided to say hi. It seems that I am no the only person who is intrigued by this business.....anyway, hello and I hope I can bring something to the forums!

    Nice to meet you, Furoms! I'm glad you decided to introduce yourself. (Sorry it took a bit for us to welcome you- holiday weekend and all...)

    Many of us got started in our teens and stuck with it. My own brother began as a busboy at the same age you did and has been the owner of a very successful restaurant for over 30 years. His son is also a chef and is working to take it over from his old man someday soon. Dreams really do come true, but if you've been in the business, you know it takes a lot of hard work.

    What aspect of the food industry intrigues you most? Do you have a particular direction you'd like to go- for example, cooking, pastry, food styling, etc.? Is there a particular cuisine or ingredient you most like to work with?
