mercury-free oven thermometer

I need to purchase a deep fry/candy thermometer and an oven thermometer for my niece (grill thermometer too, but I don't see that listed below). Initially, I was looking at these two items from the popular company, Taylor:

But the shipping (Hawaii) is almost the same price as the items. Then, I started looking at other threads online and saw this post by a user:

He recommends buying a thermometer from an industrial supply store. I took a look at their supply and I was considering these two:

^ This thermometer uses Therminol 59 as a liquid and I think it is not toxic like Mercury, but I'm not totally sure.

Take a look around here. Cheapie oven thermometers are around $5 for a pack of two. I don't think they have been using mercury in thermometers for quite some time also.

Mosy oven thermometers I've had are bimetal strip dial thermometers... and like Hal sais, they're cheap as the dickens. Even my cheapy pocket temp dial thermometer is a bimetal strip thermometer in a stem...

The only glass thermometer I use is the long column one on my (ahem, er, um) "water purification" still , as I want to follow those column temps closely, and it confirms the thermocouple readings. For kitchen work - no glass stuck in the food.
