I need a big sauté pan, not aluminum surface, with lid if possible. I want cheap and good, not yuppie fake garbage. Suggestions on brands from Prince or the like?

What size?  Is 12" big enough? Saute not fry?

Get two carbon steel pans of the size you desire. Cook in one and flip the other upside down as a cover.

Yeah that was my original thought too, but then I started thinking about it and if he wants a saute pan (not a fry), I don't know of anyone that manufactures a carbon steel one,

Saute or sauteuse. 15" or so across, nice tallish sides. I can probably make do with a lid I've already got.

I don't know if you will find a saute that big. Have you considered a rondeau? Vollrath makes a stainless steel one that size that you can pick up for about $150.

Oh. I think that's what I meant. Oops! Thanks for the recommendation.
