Describe chalky as milk of mag is the only thing I have ever put in my mouth that I would tag with that descriptor.

The recipe seems like it calls for way too much flour to me. I would cut the flour back to a cup.

It would be because these are a form of shortbread and they will have a different consistency that you can liken to "chalky". That is why they are nicknamed "cat's tongue". Have you ever been licked by a cat with a smooth tongue?? lol /img/vbsmilies/smilies/biggrin.gif
