as i was coming out of the grocery store the other day i was approached by two young teenagers, maybe 12-14 years old. hats on backwards with cigarettes hanging from their lips. one boy says, 'hey lady, you got a coupla bucks so i can eat?' to which i replied, 'stop smoking and you'll be able to afford food'.   after walking away i started thinking....dollars, they asked for dollars...whatever happened to asking for spare change?...geez, kids these days!...

    @ Joey,

Sorry to hear about ur incident. Generation X or Generation Zero ... scarey ... Glad my daughters are grown, and had skipped today´s mess.

It is worldwide. The lack of parents ... they are busy working ... the crisis ... the culture ! or lack of it ...

    Have nice Easter Holiday.

    Ciao.

    Margaux Cintrano.

    Joey,

Speaking of kids, I saw this video the other day and it just made my day (only 2 years old and doing the jive)

Well, at least they asked you Joey, and didn’t steal it!  I had a kid try to take my purse from me, he didn’t get too far with that.  I might be small, but little dogs bite!

It seems like today's kids are on there own by choice. They act as if they know it all and parents today are scared to over react for for of losing them (they probably already have) or fear of discipline because of child abuse laws. When my siblings and I were growing up my parents were not scared to knock sense into us. Abuse with lots of Love, I call it.

Alot of parents these days are afraid to stand up to their kids and be parents and they aren't doing their kids any favours at all with that approach.  Not all kids are like this but it seems that they feel the world owes them a living or something.

Our kids are 16 (soon to be 17) and 18 (soon to be 19) and they are awesome.  We disciplined them when they were younger, but didn't hit them... my mom was very quick with the back of her hand when I was a kid and I hated getting hit... and they turned out just fine.  If they were misbehaving, I'd tell them once to stop doing whatever it was, the second time I'd warn them that if I had to speak to them one more time they'd have to sit on the bottom step (and I meant the bottom step... not three up playing with the railing, the bottom step in the middle of it)  and if they still didn't stop, it was off to the bottom step for a few minutes.  I'd ask them at the end of their time out if they could tell me why they went to the step, and what we were going to do to change it.  It was work, yes but well worth it as I know I can send them anywhere and they will be well behaved and listen to what they were told.
