Julia Child is an American icon.  One of mine is Elizabeth David, the British writer who introduced post-war British families who had been semi-starved since the beginning of 1939 when we entered WWII - and rationed until about 1953/4 -  to the foods of the sun-drenched cuisines of southern France and Italy.  My Mum had her books and we ate wonderful foods!

I hope you will enjoy participating in the ChefTalk website.  We have membership from around the globe (I'm Scots) and all levels of culinary skills, from those just starting out, through enthusiastic amateurs (like me) to masterchefs!  Feel free to join in on any thread you find interesting or start your own.  The wikis, blogs, articles and photographs on the site are well worth a look, too.  The Professional fora on here are 'read-only' for those of us who are not in the culinary professions, but they make interesting reading!

I agree completely - but as a guy (a dude) - I'd probably get my butt kicked if I repeated your qoute on a busy line at 8:30 on a Friday. :D

There are people who MAKE things happen

There are people who WATCH things happen

and then there are people who say "What the HELL happened?"

Julia MADE things happen!

I love that woman for her drive and  her spirit......
