I hope this is the right place to ask this question.

I am trying to take cooking more seriously and was wondering if a one day course on knife skills at the LCB here in Ottawa would be worth the money?

I find cutting and chopping difficult to master, and thought it would be a good idea to get the basics down. (other than Youtube)

Am I better off just buying a lot of carrots and potatoes and practising at home?

    Thanks

By all means take the course. Then go home and practice with a bunch of onions and carrots. Having some one show you the proper technique  will get you off to a good start. It's all practice after that.
