    I'm so excited!!

    I'm going HOME,

and I'm talking about my real home!

Hawaiian Airlines posted a special airfare this morning

from several "Mainland" cities to Honolulu and Kahului,

and my husband and I jumped on it.

We called my husband's sister and gave her a heads up,

    here we come!

Before we left, we gave my car to my sister and brother in law

and it has served as the "family car",

all of us visiting from the mainland have had wheels.

I can't wait to get back to some of our old stomping grounds,

see friends, familiar foods, and the beach baby!!

Maybe some of you will visit "my paradise" too...

Lucky you.... congrats!!! :D I love Hawaii. Been there 4 times and loved every minute of it (Molokai, Kauai, Big Island...). As they say when it rains in Hawaii, walk a few steps or wait a few minutes and it will be sunny again. :D

Tell the beach I said "hi" and I will be back soon!!

    More importantly: Enjoy!

    Did I say I'm excited?

I honestly didn't think that I wanted to go back, at least not this much ...

French Fries, I'll say an Aloha for you!

I plan on keeping a food journal and a boat load of photos to share ...

the food in Hawaii is so ...  Everything!!  You name it, pretty much you can get it ... High end, plate lunch (food trucks as they call them now) and everything in between.  I can remember "roach coaches" back from when I was a kid!  Now they call them anything but that, it's just good food man!

My best culinary memory of Hawaii would probably be the fruit stands. Especially one in Kauaii where the guy was rather eccentric.... one day he wanted to sell us a coconut and I explained we didn't have anything to cut it open, so he just threw it as fast as possible against the ground in the middle of the road to open it for me. I laughed and quickly grabbed a straw to drink the coconut water. The next day he wanted to sell us a Papaya but my wife and I explained we didn't like Papaya so much, so he grabbed a lime and squeezed it on top, it was absolutely delicious. I've loved Papaya ever since!

And lilikoy... guava jam... and really the marinade I miss the most.. the "2 guys from Molokai" marinade. Incredible! :)
