    At home cook
I'm lucky to have found this site!  I have only home cooking experience, but have really awesome chefs friends that I've had lessons and cooking time with.  Two years ago I moved to Paris from Los Angeles and just recently I've been chosen has one of the lead cooks for our church.  We do many activities and I cook a meal for approx 50 people every Thursday evening.  I choose the menu, shop and then delegate to who ever shows up a my volunteers for the night.  Sometimes I get a few and some times too many!  I've earned a pretty solid reputation as being a good cook and people come for the food as much as for the fellowship, I've been told.  We just through a Thanksgiving Dinner for 170 and it went VERY well.  I am happy not only about the food, but the organization and decorations too!

Anyway, It is really great reading all these wonderful posts, and I know I will learn a lot from you all.  Thank you in advance!

Hello and welcome! I think that "home cooking" is the most important cooking on the planet really, and your church cooking sounds wonderful too!

    Welcome to ChefTalk!

There are lots of our members (including me) who are in the 'enthusiastic amateur' camp - but we have all levels of abilities here, from 'can't boil water' to masterchefs!

Feel free to join in on any thread you find of interest, or start your own in the relevant forum.  The wikis, blogs, articles, reviews and photography on the site are well worth spending time to view - lots of inspiration in the photographs alone!  The professional fora are read-only for those of us who are not presently engaged in a culinary trade - but make interesting reading, nonetheless!

How exciting to move from California to Paris.  I lived in Paris for a while, and did a couse at Le Cordon Bleu..  it has come in handy all my life.

Hope to see you around the boards.
