I know this might not be the right thread for this but I don't know where else to put it. I need some questions answered about being a chef. I am a high school student that is aspiring to be a chef. If anyone replies it would be greatly appreciated.

    Here are the questions:

    1. what are your working hours like?

    2. how do you deal with the stress of the job?

    3. what position did you start in?

4.did you have any previous training? (culinary school etc.)

    thank you.

    1) anything less than 12 hours is a good, easy day.

    2) alcohol, muttered obscenities, black metal, knowing I would be miserable doing anything else.

    3) dishwasher.

    4) on the job, showed up early, ask stupid questions, read a lot.

    you're welcome.

Awesome! It's funny because it's true!! The black metal is not really my style, but sometimes it works. I did go to school, but that was after I had been in the industry for eight years. I was halfway to a degree in electronic engineering when I failed out of college. It took me two years to realize that I really couldn't visualize where I was going with the engineering path. I also really think that I would go nuts spending all day starring at a computer screen. I saw that this is where I'm meant to be, with enough experience to not be blinded by all the glam and glitter that somehow get associated with being a chef.

Anyone who buys into the glitz and glamor TV chef hype in my kitchen gets to be my star protege and help me clean the grease trap.

7am- 6pm  most of the year, 6am-8pm December. 1 week off in Aug, 1 week off in Jan.

    Stress?

Plan as much ahead as possible, don't kill yourself, walk to work, and walk home (about 20mins each trip)
