I just wanted to introduce myself.  I am a home cook.  I enjoy most cooking the foods of France, Italy, and Louisiana.  Yeah, I know, a strange combination.  I have also recently discovered the joys (and sorrow) of baking.  I have already learned a great deal by reading posts, and I look foreword to contributing.

    Welcome to Cheftalk!

We have all levels of ability, from those just starting out on their culinary journey to masterchefs - and those of us who are just enthusiastic amateurs (like me, for instance!)  We also have members from all around the globe.

I love French cuisine and have done a number of cookery courses in France, including a short (summer-long) course at LCB, Paris.  I've also been on a few courses in Italy, including areas as diverse as :Liguria, Tuscany and Puglia!

I hope you will find time to look at some of the wonderful photography on the site, and to read some of the amazing articles here.  The professional fora are 'read-only' for those of us who are not in the culinary professions, but you can gain a lot of insight by just reading them!  Feel free to start your own thread or contribute to any other thread you find interesting.

    Ishbel,

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Had did you like the LCB course?  You'll have to give me your recommendations for cooking classes in Italy.  I plan to go to Italy next year.

I took the LCB cookery course more years ago than I care to remember - many girls did that in the gap year between school and university (well, it was living in Paris, and learning to cook - the rest of the year could be spent travelling around the world with a clear conscience!)

I love to cook, and my family tend to buy me day courses or longer at various cookery schools, which I make part of a holiday in a country or region.

Italy is one of my favourite places to holiday - we've been going there on a semi-annual basis for over 35 years!
