How much tomato juice?

    A recipe calls for 8 quarts (1 peck) of fresh tomatoes. I only have home canned tomato juice and I didn't pay attention to how much juice I got from the tomatoes that I didn't weigh first!

    If I put all 8 quarts of tomatoes (after dropping in boiling water for 2-3 minutes) through a food mill, how much tomato juice (in quarts) will I end up with, roughly speaking?

    The answer is 4-6 qts. juice from 8 qts tomatoes.
