Stunned by how quickly things can change.

I was riding high after winning best oyster at the local festival on Saturday.

Went to work Sunday to make sure our Father's day special was handled properly, and was looking forward to going home to a meal made for me by my wife and 16 year old daughter.

My wife called and.....we'd been robbed.

They pried the garage door up and proceeded to take all of my wife's jewelry including wedding ring, about $300 cash, many firearms, our two computers, plus many other items.

On top of that they took our daughter's car.

During the investigation the deputy got a call that the car had been found.....completely torched.

This was an older buick we had used our tax return money to get for our daughter, and she had hoped to use it to attain work this summer.

As it was an older model we only had PL/PD coverage, so it's a total loss.

We do have a good suspect, and hopefully they catch him soon.

Of course we'd like our possessions back, but I am also concerned about my firearms being out on the street with crminals.

I went from feeling on top of the world to totally violated in one day.

Happy F'n Father's Day to me.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Also, thanks to all for giving me a place to vent my frustration.

Much better to vent than to make rash decisions.

I've got no kind words to soothe you...but if you lived in NY where I am, I know a guy that "solves" problems, and yes, he's Italian.

    UPDATE:

One of the two known suspects has been caught. We also have reason to believe a third person may be involved, but don't know who that person may be. We know the second suspect, and have put his picture on facebook, as we did with the first suspect.

The LEO's have recovered a few items, but still none of my wife's jewelry.

My wife was able to recover a watch she had bought me for an anniversary simply by walking into a pawn shop and asking if one of the 2 known suspects had sold anything lately. Frustrated that she accomplished this so easily when one would think the LEO's could have done the same, sooner.

But still, feels good to know one guy is behind bars.

We have a friends in law enforement, and one is a guard at the local jail.

I'm sure he will not have an easy time in jail while awaiting trial.

Just thought I'd let my ChefTalk family know what's up.

I'm glad to hear that they've gotten one of the guys.  Hopefully it will be a short time before the others get their time as well.

      Glad you're all safe too

Sorry to hear about your incident. Nothing canput out the blemish of what the violation does to your head. I hope you make a record and get a police report as any loss over $150. is deductable off your fed income tax at end of year. Although this is little compared to your personel loss , it is  something. EDB
