"Hi" from the "Real" Jersey Shore

    Please don't think of that embarrassing TV show when you think of NJ. We do have some beautiful beaches and great people!

    I have lived here my whole life. I graduated from culinary school in 1988. I have been a pastry chef for over 20 years now. Since Hurricane Sandy devastated many of our restaurants, we are all struggling to rebuild and get back to work. I am lucky enough to have been employed by the same company for 22 years. I started as a pantry person and worked my way up to corporate pastry chef. I am now baking (by myself), for 4 of our restaurants. This is a brand new endeavor and I will be obviously be hiring help, when the summer months approach.

    I'm glad to have found this site. There is some great info here and I look forward to learning and sharing ideas with you all!

    I love being a pastry chef, but my "true" passion is gardening. I grow heirloom tomatoes and many other things. Too bad the busy baking season coincides with the busy gardening season!

    So glad you found us!  This a vibrant and diverse community comprised of folks of varying skill levels.  Don’t miss the Chef’s Garden forum; there is always something interesting growing there.  I hope that you will post in the General forums as well as in the Professional, Home Cooks such as myself can only read in the Pro section.  Should you have questions in regards to the site, feel free to PM a Mod or Admin person.  I think that you’ll find that everyone here is very helpful and respectful.
