Hi! kensgurrl from philipsburg, pa. Just joined, wanted to introduce myself. I've been cooking at home for about 35 years, I think I'm pretty good at it. My husband and two kids, 7 and 9, like it. Can't wait to talk to you all

Hi kensgurrl and welcome to Chef Talk. I'm a home cook myself and commend you for your 35 years at the stove!

We're an international community of home cooks, professionals and food lovers in general. The amount of information here is truly amazing! The discussion forums are a rich source of recipes and ideas, but don't miss the cooking articles, photo galleries and other features here. Because our members are from every continent (even Antarctica now and then), you can pick up ideas for recipes, ingredients or methods from cooks in Asia, Europe, South America.... you get the idea. That daily question, "What should I make for dinner?" can be an exciting exploration rather than an eye-rolling drag. As you can see, I know whereof I speak. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif  And I cook only for myself and my husband.

Are there regional specialties or ingredients that your area is known for? For instance, I'm from Wisconsin, so it's bratwurst, cheese and beer for us. But those are the cliches; we're more creative than that. How about your area?

As you explore the site, we hope you'll read the articles and forums, but please remember that we home cooks post only in the general forums. While we are free to read in the professionals' forums, we mustn't post there. Still, everyone posts in the general forums.

We hope you enjoy being part of the community and look forward to learning from you as you will from everyone here.
