    Hi folks!

As you might guess from my nickname - I'm Scottish and although my wife does most of the cooking, I have my definite favourites :)

Haggis, blood pudding, mealie puddings - ask away and I might be able to add some input of my own

Hello Haggisman! We're happy to have you among us. We have a good many Scots here among the thousands of Chef Talk members from all over the world.

Haggis has been a topic of discussion, as I'm sure you'll find as soon as you type it into the search bar at the top of the page. I've eaten it myself, in Glasgow (if memory serves) many years ago and liked it. I didn't know what mealies were, but from the description, they resemble something from my own culture: kishke. In place of oatmeal we use flour or matzo meal, and in place of beef or mutton suet we use rendered chicken fat (schmaltz). It's definitely poor people's food, unhealthful and absolutely delicious. I'd be willing to bet the same can be said of mealies.

We invite you to explore all the goodies on the site, including the cooking articles, reviews of cookbooks and equipment, etc. Although we are all free to read every forum, home cooks like you and I mustn't post in the professionals' forums; we keep to the general forums where everyone can post.

I hope you'll visit often to share, learn and enjoy the community. Welcome!
