Herring fillet

I bought some smoked herring fillets in a package thinking they were similar to the canned type similar to sardines where I could just eat them right from the package.  They weren't as they were salted and had many small bones .  Now I don't know how to use them.  Any ideas?

If they're fillets then they're most likely kippers.

Don't worry too much about the small bones, they're edible and not dangerous.

1. Heat a grill to high

2. place a small knob of butter in the center of the fillet.

3. grill for about 5 minutes each side.

Gorgeous for breakfast, perfect with a poached egg on top and some toasted wholegrain bread.
