Help with carrot cake.

Help!! OK so I was impatient and put my cream cheese icing on a warm carrot cake and it's starting to liquify. So I have a large freezer and I set it in for a few minutes is that the wrong idea?

It turned out OK, I was worried what the freezer would do to the texture of the cake by quickly dropping the temp vs letting it drop gradually. The freezer stopped the cream cheese icing liquifying process that was occurring, and didn't seem to have an effect on cake texture.
