    At home cook
Hi, I would like to cook my boyfriend a 3 course meal tonight.

I know its last minute but we have the house (and I have the kitchen!) to ourselves at his so I don't need to worry about people getting in the way whilst I'm cooking and will be a nice surprise for him to come home from work to!

I'm a pretty decent cook, just lacking in ideas! I was thinking maybe some kind of soup to start? I have the "new covent garden soup for every day" book if that helps. Was thinking maybe carrot and coriander or some kind of spicy parnsip soup maybe but can't think what to do about main, preferably something fancier that pasta and definately no fish.

Then maybe creme brulee or something not as stodgy as chocolate?

Thanks to anyone who can help, I'm open to lots of ideas!

I don't know where you live, but over here it's hot as heck.  If you go with soup try a nice cool gazpacho!  Panna cotta for dessert.  It's easy as all heck and all it needs to do is set for 6 hrs in the fridge.

As a main, what are you in the mood for?  Heart and simply or fancy?  Quail is super easy to cook if you can get ahold of any.  For something a little out of the every day why not make a seared duck breast with wilted greens?  Maybe served it with cold peanut noodles.  Too hard to come up with an idea, what direction do you want to go in?

Yes, if it is hot where you are a cool salad might be a better starter, like this shrimp and avocado:

And for dessert lemon curd is easy to make, and simply topped with whipped cream and berries is quite tasty.

Roast pork tenderloin, ginger gravy with a mushroom rice pilaf?
